After getting thousands of teenage hearts pounding with his two huge gigs at the M.E.N. Arena this week, it was time for pop sensation Justin Bieber to get a few thrills of his own here in Manchester.
For the 17-year-old Canadian heart-throb lined up a packed day of high-octane activities to enjoy some time off in Manchester.
First he headed to the indoor ski slope at Chill Factore next to the Trafford Centre, before heading down the road for a pitstop at the Daytona go-karting track.
He took a break from his hectic tour schedule to relax with his pals, including Jaden Smith, son of movie stars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith who has been on tour with the Bieber and his pop star sister Willow.
And after that snowboarding fun at the real snow slope, it was then off to the Daytona go-kart track just down the road in Trafford Park.
While he’s barely old enough to drive in this country, Justin certainly proved himself to be rather nifty behind the wheel as he burned some rubber at the track.
I hear Justin’s management shelled out hundreds of pounds to book out the entire giant venue for the day so that the pop star could go-kart race against pals and his crew without disruption.
The heart-throb singer – who has had thousands of screaming fans, known as Beliebers, waiting outside The Lowry Hotel where he has been staying during his visit to the city – is known to be a huge fan of karting, and has been known to stop off at tracks while on his tour.
At the Daytona track he took part in one of the venue’s grand prix-style races. Competitors first of all have the opportunity to set the best lap time within an allocated time, which then determines what position on the grid they will start the main race from.
He did grab a trophy – but only for second place after his manager raced to victory. Jaden came third in his kart.
But we know that Justin remains in pole position for all those Beliebers out there!
